Today we got three truckloads and plant seedlings delivered – tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, thai basil, mint, and much more.
Over 40 families came out and excitedly planted their beds. As soon as plants got taken off the truck they were grabbed and planted immediately! It was the fastest planting I’ve seen. We rushed to the Italian Market to buy more plants. Many children came out after school and helped plant seeds along the fence, water, and play in the dirt!
Large bunches of collards, kale, and mustard greens were given out to 18 Bhutanese and Burmese families. They were overjoyed to harvest these large fresh greens. The women who helped plant these beds were especially excited to see the fruits of their labor. I also gave out greens to our neighbor Mildred and she couldn’t believe how good and fresh they were! This is the first of many harvests to come!
